OT Training 5.18.14

Today was my first day back on the training after an off day. The way my schedule worked out Saturday was my complete off day and I spend that time seeing some friends and drinking some beers.

I was back at it today and since I wasn't really home much at all today I didn't get to do my run until 6:00 p.m. I actually had a pretty rough weekend so I wasn't overly focused on the run but I knew I had to do it since it was my long run day. I was tasked with going 40 minutes. Typically my long run days are between 60-75 minutes but with as much biking and swimming I am doing I am using a lot of my legs so I have to try and stick with this plan.

To be perfectly honest the run today was shitty. I got in 41:56 and went 5.09 miles. It was a little short of what I wanted to do but like I said I wasn't really in the right mindset for it. Once again I started out the run way too fast and by the three mile mark I was pretty spent. I spent the rest of my run trying to pace myself but I was already way out of it.

I think what I am planning on doing is repeating this past week's workout. The race I plan on doing is exactly four months away and I am working off a four month program so I am going to use this week to get into the groove and see where I am at and I think I have a better gauge. I think starting this week I am going to stick closer to my program in terms of how much time I train on a per day basis so this is a good start.
